Carolyn Dittmar Edmison

Carolyn Dittmar Edmison Carolyn was born on September 30, 1942 in Austin, Texas and died on November 27, 2014 in Abilene, Texas. She was married to Jerry Edmison for nearly fifty years. She resided in Buffalo Gap and was president of the Buffalo Gap Republican Women’s Club, the Buffalo Gap Restoration Association and the Economic Development Board and was a City Council Member (Mayor Pro Tem) for the past twelve years. She served in those positions honorably and dutifully. She was an Episcopalian. She was preceded in death by her mother Madie Breed Dittmar, father Ernest Dittmar and sister Linda Dittmar Wier. She is survived by husband Jerry Edmison, her two children, Stephanie Edmison Kurpiewski of Dripping Springs, Texas and Stephen Edmison of Tucson, Arizona; and her grandchildren Clay, Callie and Connor Kurpiewski, and Owen and Grace Edmison. Fostered by the early settling of Buffalo Gap in the later 1800’s, Jerry’s family introduced Carolyn to the local area in the early 1960’s. She quickly adopted Buffalo Gap as her home and sanctuary. Important to Carolyn and Jerry was the preserving of the long history of this area. She worked purposely in maintaining the integrity and beauty of the area while effecting positive changes that would preserve the heart and soul of this storied heritage. Her involvement, whether through her position on the city council, economic development board or many other volunteer positions, furthered her deep love for Buffalo Gap. It was important for Carolyn to always continue to learn. Known as Nana to her grandchildren, her love for reading and quest for knowledge was passed on to each of them. She was patient and a great listener. She was loved by all and will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, December 1st at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 2nd at The Hamil Family Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Buffalo Gap Cemetery.
