Carolyn Cowden Chaney, 74, of Abilene, Texas, departed this life on February 20, 2008.
Born in Abilene on July 23, 1933 to Clarence and Corinne Connell Cowden, she was a member of Pioneer Drive Baptist Church for nearly 50 years and a volunteer at Hendrick Medical Center for 30 years. She was deeply loved by her family and will be dearly missed and always remembered. She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, William W. "Bill" Chaney; son, Cal Chaney and his wife, Clare Buie Chaney of Dallas; her daughter, Kimberly Chaney Moore and her husband, Hillary Moore of Abilene; five grandchildren, Kristi Moore Cooley and her husband, Matt Cooley of McKinney, Hailey Moore Weems and her husband, Jason Weems of Dallas, Lars Moore of Waco, Brent Chaney of Austin and Clark Chaney of Austin; one great-grandchild, Carson Cooley of McKinney; sisters Constance Cowden Fauber of Arlington and Corinne Cowden Law and her husband, Jim Law of Albuquerque, New Mexico; a niece and three nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., February 23, 2008 in the sanctuary of Pioneer Drive Baptist Church with Brother Jack Ridlehoover, Rev. Stan Allcorn and Dr. Jeff Reid officiating. Interment will follow at Elmwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends for a visitation from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Friday, February 22, 2008 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene, Texas.
