Carolita Quillin, of Abilene, passed away Wednesday, November 14, 2007 at the age of 79. Visitation will be from 4:30 to 6:00 pm on Sunday in the chapel at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Graveside services will be at 11:30 am on Monday, November 19, 2007 in the Crowell Cemetery in Crowell, Texas.
Carolita was born on January 31, 1928 in Thalia, Texas, to Joe Carroll and Ava Ella Jones. She graduated from Thalia High School and attended Hendricks Nursing School in Abilene. Carolita married Truman Bryan Quillin, Jr. on February 16, 1947 in Thalia, Texas. They were longtime residents of Vernon were Truman was the editor and publisher of the Vernon Daily Record.
Carolita returned to Abilene in 1983 and attended American Commercial College and taught there for a short period. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. Carolita found fulfillment as a Sunday School teacher at Wylie Baptist Church and loved her "little ladies".
She was predeceased by her husband, Truman Bryan Quillin, Sr. and her son, Truman Bryan Quillin, Jr. Surviving her are her daughters; Paula Ford and husband Bill of Abilene, Nancy Long and husband Derek, of Austin; one brother, Martin Jones; one sister, Faye Lynch; and grandchildren, Kristen Ford, Shawn, Kelly, and Hudson Quillin.
