Carmoncita Louise Marr

Carmoncita Louise Lynn was born to Lowell and Ophelia Lynn, October 26, 1937, in Burnet, Texas. She died November 18, 2008, at University Medical Center in Lubbock, having lived 71 years, 2 weeks and 5 days. Funeral services, with Ed Brown officiating, will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 21 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Visitation hours will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, November 20 at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Hamlin Cemetery. Carmon was a strong, quiet, thoughtful friend, who was loved by all who knew her. Her Christian Faith was obvious to all. Carmon attended school at Oatmeal, Bertram and Burnet before graduating from Abilene Christian High School in 1955. She attended ACC in the 1950's. Carmon was married to Jerry Neal March 28, 1958 in Burnet, Texas. Jerry preceded her in death. Their children, Tammye Lynne and Jerry Junior, attended ACU in the 1970's. The family lived for a time in Azuza, California where they owned and operated a craft shop. Carmon and her family served a congregation of the Church of Christ in Las Vegas, Nevada, before returning to Abilene. On May 20, 1982, Carmon married Lloyd Marr at the Highland Church of Christ in Abilene. Since that marriage they have been faithful members of the Hillcrest Church of Christ. For several years Carmon worked for the Abilene Higher Education Authority, helping ACC students who sought loans for college expenses. She helped in negotiating and monitoring repayment schedules. She was predeceased by her parents, her first husband, her son, and a step-daughter, Sherry Marr. She is survived by her husband, Lloyd Marr of Abilene, her daughter, Tammye Lynne Rogers and husband Wally of Seguin, Texas, grandson, Asher Rogers of Seguin, Texas, brother, Loyd Lynn and wife Eula of Atmore, Alabama, brother, Nelson Lynn and wife Judy of Burnet, Texas, and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Also surviving are uncles, Loyd Williams and wife Marie of Franklin, Texas, and Albert Williams of Barksdale, Texas, and aunts, Vera Geer and husband Sam of Abilene, and Edna Brown and husband, Edward, also of Abilene. She is also survived by step-children, Thomas and Kat Marr, as well as five step-grandchildren. Memorials may be made in Carmon's honor to Williams, Ligon Brown Endowed Scholarship Fund, C/O ACU 1600 Campus Court, ACU Station, 79699.
