Carl Woodall, 73, passed away Tuesday, July 29, 2014, in Abilene, Texas at Hendrick Medical Center.
Born in Putnum County, Indiana on August 22, 1940, he was the son of Mary E. (Simpson) and Fred Woodall. Carl met the love of his life, Lois Robbins Woodall, in Syracuse, NY. They later married on October 1, 1963. She accompanied him around the world before they came to Abilene in 1977 after having spent three years in Athens, Greece. He retired in 1981 after having served 20 years in the U.S. Air Force, a career which including serving in Vietnam. He went on to help open the local Abilene Target where he was known as the “handy man”. He later retired after 20 plus years from Target to spend his days with his family and grandkids.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, and his wife.
Survivors include two daughters, Rebecca Wright and husband Frank of Irving, Texas, and Alicia Unterreiner and husband James of Abilene; four grandchildren, Denver McGrath and husband Dustin of Spokane, WA, Carly Unterreiner of Abilene, Roman Miles and Grace Wright of Irving; two step-grandchildren, Frank and Ron Wright of Irving; and three great-grandchildren, Emily, Logan and Jacen McGrath.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 1, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene, with Rev. Chuck Farina, Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 31, at the funeral home.
Grandsons and friends will serve as pallbearers.
