Carl Frederick Roeder, 63, of Abilene, TX, went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Easter Sunday, April 21, 2019.
For those wishing to join the celebration of Carl's life, memorial services will be held Saturday, May 4th, at 2:00 pm, at First Central Presbyterian Church, 400 Orange St. Officiating the service will be Dr. Clifford Stewart and Dr. Janice Six. Visitation will be held Friday May 3rd, from 5:30-7:00 pm, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.
Carl was born in Abilene, TX to Shirley and Joseph Roeder on August 16th, 1955. Carl graduated high school from Cooper High School in 1973. He graduated from the University of Texas at Austin, in 1977, with a BBA in Accounting. He married Lynn Schneider on May 28th, 1977, in Abilene, TX. After earning his CPA, Carl worked for Enserch Corporation, Borden Duffel, and Roeder & Foreman, before becoming a partner at Western Surplus Lines, an insurance brokerage firm. Carl was an active and involved member of the Abilene community. He was an Eagle Scout, a member of the Abilene Southwest Rotary Club, and an Elder & Deacon at First Central Presbyterian Church, serving for many years as Chairman of the Finance Committee. Additionally Carl served on the boards of Day Nursery of Abilene, The Paramount Theatre, The Grace Museum, Taylor County Appraisal District, Therapeikos, The Presbyterian Medical Mission, Boy Scouts of America, Young Life of Abilene, Texas Surplus Lines Agency Stamping Office, and The American Red Cross, among others.
Carl loved spending time with his family at Lake Brownwood, and their ranch in Albany, TX. Always putting family first, he never missed an event. From athletics, to arts, to academics, he was always there for his kids.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Shirley and Joseph Roeder.
Carl is survived by his wife of 42 years, Lynn Roeder. His children, Brooke Roeder, Harrison Roeder, and wife Katelin, Austin Roeder, and wife Callie. His beloved Stepmother, Lavern Roeder. His brother Robert Roeder, and wife Teresa, his sister Susan Bolling, and husband, Robert. His sister-in-law, Gail Batko, his sister-in-law Phyllis Baum and her husband David Baum, and numerous nieces and nephews. His grandchildren, Emerson Andrus, Esme Andrus, Eames Andrus, Blake Roeder and Charlotte Roeder.
Carl was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend to all. He was a kind and generous man, who never met a stranger.
