Byrdie Swinson Daniels, 73, died Tuesday, August 3, 2010, at an Abilene medical center.
The daughter of Emmie Cordelia (Reeves) and Cicero Van Swinson, Byrdie was born on November 24, 1936 in Cisco, Texas. A lifelong resident of the Abilene area, she graduated from Lueders High School and then worked for the refinery. She later became a legal secretary for A. J. Smith in Anson, Texas, a position which Byrdie held until her marriage to Bobby Gene Daniels on May 5, 1958 in Anson. She later worked at Abilene State School in Direct Care for 7-1/2 years.
Mrs. Daniels was a member of Nugent Church of Christ.
Her son, Brian Daniels; parents, Van and Emmie Swinson; two sisters, Patsy Brown and Lavada Hargrove; and a brother, L. C. Swinson, preceded Byrdie in death.
Byrdie is survived by her husband, Bobby Daniels of Abilene; three sons, Bart Daniels and wife Lynell, Barry Daniels, and Brent Daniels and wife Lawana, all of Abilene; a daughter, Bunnia Hargrove of Abilene; one brother, Homer Swinson of Stanton, Texas; one sister, Maybelle Trout of Eastland; eleven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Thursday, August 5, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home Chapel, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene. Burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery at Funston in Jones County, Texas. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Bart Daniels, Barry Daniels, Brent Daniels, Bobby Daniels, William Daniels and Justin Daniels.
