Buddy Neil Samford passed from this life to be with his Heavenly Father on Thursday, February 27, 2014. Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Burial will follow in the Trent Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Monday at the funeral home.
Buddy was born to John and Etta Hurst Samford in Brookesmith, Texas on September 6, 1931. After graduating from Brookesmith High School, Buddy served in the Army from 1952 to 1954. He was stationed in Alaska. He met and married the love of his life, Venita Quattlebaum from Trent, Texas on December 7, 1956. They made their home in Abilene and later moved to Caps, Texas.
Buddy worked in the oilfield business for many years and then for Strain Paving Contractors in Tye, Texas before he retired.
Buddy was a loyal husband, father, grandfather and friend. He loved his family and his horses. He made a good habit of meeting friends for coffee on Saturday mornings. He always loved a good joke, any kind of dessert, and the love of family.
Buddy was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Eldon, Weldon and Owen Samford.
Buddy is survived by his wife, Venita Samford, of Abilene; one sister, Barbara Bickley and husband Jim of Giddings, Texas; two sons, Monty Samford and wife Janet and their two sons: Riley and Rex Samford, all of Eula, Texas; Mark Samford and wife Tammy and their children: Amber Davis and husband Lane, Samantha and Alyssa Samford, all of Clyde, Texas and Hunter Samford, of Colorado; his daughter, Tonja Samford of Houston, Texas; his great-grandchildren, Adison and Jaxon; as well as three nieces and two nephews.
