Brayden Grubbs-Joe

d. September 26, 2017

Brayden Grubbs-Joe, 21, passed away Tuesday, September 26, 2017. Born in Abilene, Texas on August 9, 1996, Brayden was the son of Jennifer Grubbs and Monte Joe. He graduated from Eula High School where he was an outstanding athlete. Brayden was a compassionate young man with an infectious smile and never met a stranger. He loved his family and friends. He loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He was a wind turbine technician for Renew Energy. Brayden had completed a real estate course at Cisco College, and was excited about pursuing a career in that field. Brayden is survived by his mother, Jennifer Grubbs and his eight-year-old rescue dog, Pedro, his father, Monte Joe and Robin Fitzgerald, all of Abilene; brother, Lorenzo Joe of Austin; sister, Aziah Joe of Abilene. Survivors also included his aunt and uncle, Misty and Alex Picou of Tucson AZ and their children, Mireya Grubbs and Colton Picou; aunt Tiffany Joe of Fort Worth; aunt and uncle, Jimmy and Annette McDonald and their children, Austin and Garrett McDonald, and Megan and Josh O'Dell; maternal grandparents, Don and Evon Grubbs of Tuscola, and Carolyn and Larry Cleveland of Abilene; paternal grandparents, Shirley and Wilton Joe of Fort Worth; and great-grandmothers, Gladys Ross of Fort Worth and Martha Wright of Granbury. Brayden was preceded in death by his great grandfather Ernest Wright and his great uncle Cecil Allen, both whom he admired and loved. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p. m. Saturday, September 30, at Mission Abilene, 3001 North 3rd Street, with Tracy Dean and Chad Mitchell officiating. Arrangements were made by The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene. In lieu of flowers, Brayden would want people to pay it forward – i.e. give a waiter or waitress a bigger tip, take in a stray animal, or to go out of your way to help someone else in a way that would make their day a little better. Just be nice!
