Boyd E. Harris, 85, of Abilene, Texas, passed away peacefully at Hendrick Hospice Care Center on Wednesday, June 28, 2017. He was born in Beaver Crossing, Nebraska on January 10, 1932.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 3, at Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene, 7457 W. Lake Road. Reverend Chuck Farina will be officiating. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, July 2, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene.
He proudly served 20 years in the United States Air Force. After retiring from his military career, he worked in the restaurant industry, industrial supply company, security and then owned his own business. He loved people and took great pleasure in helping others. He enjoyed watching and cheering on his sports teams: Dallas Cowboys, Texas Rangers and Cooper Cougars. Boyd was very quick witted and mischievous with a very compassionate heart.
Left to cherish his memories are his children, Randy Harris and his wife Brenda of Abilene, Cynthia Wood of Watauga, Texas, and Tracy Harris of Watauga, Texas. Grandchildren Randa Harris of Arlington, Texas, Kristen Wooten and her husband Allen of Abilene, and Mallory Hall and her husband Austin of New Braunfels, Texas. Great grandchildren Aileigh and Jenson Wooten. He was preceded in death by his wife Imogene Harris and son Ricky Harris.
