Bobby Lee Self

Bobby Lee Self, 64, of Abilene, passed away on January 13, 2013 in Abilene, Texas. Bobby was born in Rotan, Texas to J.P. & Estelle Self on April 17, 1948. He graduated from McCaulley High School in McCaulley, TX. He attended Tarleton State University and Abilene Christian University. Bobby worked in the oil industry both domestically and internationally. Bobby loved traveling, music, his family and serving others. Bobby was a member of the University Church of Christ. Bobby was preceded in death by his father, J.P. Self, and one brother. Bobby is survived by his wife, Betty; his son and daughter-in-law, Todd and Laura Self, of Austin, TX; his brother, Tommy Self of McCaulley, TX; and sister, Patricia Rains of Trent, TX; his mother, Estelle Self, of McCaulley, TX; and his grandchildren, Callye, Sophie and Tate Self, of Austin, TX. The family would like to thank Dr. Ferrell Endsley and the staff of Hendrick Center for Rehabilitation, Hendrick Hospice Care, and many friends, family, and church members who have shown their love and support over the last 18 months. Visitation will be from 5-7pm on Tuesday, January 15th at Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene. Funeral services will be held at 1:30pm on Wednesday, January 16th at University Church of Christ. Burial will follow at Elmwood Memorial Park. Arrangements are by Hamil Family Funeral Home.
