Bobby Joe Linahan

Bobby Joe Linahan of Hamby passed peacefully from this life on August 25, 2010. He was born on December 25, 1953 in Ballinger, Texas to Johnny Clay and Shorty Hampton Linahan. Bobby Joe graduated from Albany High School in 1973. He married Bette Lu Carlile in Albany, Texas in 1977. They had been best friends since the age of 14 and 15. They had two sons, Ben and John. Bob and Bette Lu ran the Hamby store along with his parents in the late 1970's. He worked in the oilfield, coal mines of West Virginia, and the last twenty years he was a heavy equipment operator and mechanic. Bob was a wonderful husband, father and Daddy Bob to his precious granddaughters. He was a member of the Hamby United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, Betty Lu of Hamby; son, Ben and his daughters, Jacye and Taylor of Saginaw, and son, John of Hamby; brother, Butch Linahan and wife Alecia of Hamby; aunts, Linda McKenzie and husband Jim, and Patricia Daker and husband Jim, and uncle, Joe Tom Linahan; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bud and Ann Mitchell of Albany; brother-in-law and wife, Jack and Julie Carlile of Dallas. Bob is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnny and Shorty Linahan, and Sandy Carlile Awalt. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, August 29, at Hamil Family Funeral Home Chapel, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, with Pastor Chris Holland officiating. Burial will follow in Round Mound Cemetery in Jones County. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, August 28, at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Randy Awalt, Mike Johnson, Joel Viertel, Drew Kelly, Craig Stuart, and John David Dove. Honorary pallbearers will be his nieces, nephews and cousins; brothers-in-law, Gary, Scott and Skeet Mitchell; and friends from the Albany High School Class of 1973.
