Bobby Campbell
Robert Lynn “Bobby” Campbell, 66, died Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at an Abilene care center.
Born in Merkel, Texas on May 20, 1947, Bobby was the son of the late Nancile (Hogan) and Robert Lee Campbell. He was a 1965 graduate of Noodle High School and received his Bachelor of Science degree from Hardin-Simmons University. He was a coach and teacher for seven years, and also owned a real estate company. Bobby had been Director of Tech Prep of West Texas Council of Governments. He also served in the U.S. Air Force Reserve. He had been a member of the Abilene School Board for 12 years, and board president of the West Texas Council of Governments while on the Abilene School Board. He was a member at Beltway Park Baptist Church in Abilene.
Bobby married Marilou Byrd Bonneaux on November 6, 1966 in Del Rio, Texas.
Survivors include his wife, Marilou Campbell of Tuscola, Texas; daughters, DeLinda Green and husband Greg of El Paso, and Corie O’Connor and husband Pat of Abilene; two sisters, Nancy Justice and husband Roy of Brownsville, Texas, and Vicki Reddin and husband Lee of Abilene; and five grandchildren, Courtney, Morgan, Tyler, Gabe and Grady.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 15, at Beltway Park Baptist Church Chapel with Ray Templeton and Dale Morrison officiating. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery in Merkel, Texas, directed by The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene. The family will receive friends 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Serving as pallbearers will be Rusty Justice, Scott Justice, Lee Reddin, Tyler O’Connor, Abe Templeton, Billy Bob Toombs, Gabe Green and Grady Green.
