Bobbie Lou Hardwick, of Abilene, died Monday, January 14, 2008 at the age of 82. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 pm Thursday, January 17, 2008 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Funeral services, with Gary Montgomery officiating, assisted by Rev. Lee Fuller, will be at 2:00 pm Saturday in the chapel at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Drummond Cemetery.
Bobbie was born September 23, 1925, in Breckenridge, Texas to Robert Freeman Morgan and Ruby Lou (Jeffries) Morgan. She grew up in Olney and graduated from Olney High School. Bobbie married Chubbie Lee Hardwick December 8, 1946 in Abilene. They lived in Abilene for several years before moving to Sylvester, Texas. Bobbie and Chubbie ran the grocery store in Sylvester for many years before Bobbie became the Post Master. She worked as the Post Master in Sylvester for 20 years, before returning to Abilene to retire. Bobbie was a member of Baker Heights Church of Christ.
Preceding Bobbie in death were her parents, one sister, Barbara Vance, and her husband, Chubbie, July 3, 1982. She is survived by two sons, John Freeman Hardwick and his wife Yolanda, of Dallas, Wenzal Marlin Hardwick and his wife Cyndi, of Cross Roads, Texas; three daughters, Melissa Lee Lawless and her husband Lonnie, of Ridgeway, Virginia, Vanessa Zientek and her husband Lou, of Abilene, and Nerissa Ellen Hardwick, of Plano; two sisters, Patricia Caldwell and Cindy Jay, both Abilene; 13 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Leland Robinson, Doug Hardwick, Mark Hardwick, Ricky Caldwell, Mike Ward and Tommy Ward will serve as pallbearers.
