Bob J. Morris, 83, died Friday, January 29, 2010, at an Abilene nursing center. Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. today, January 30, in Elmwood Memorial Park Garden of the Good Shepherd Section in Abilene with Rev. Palmer McCown officiating, directed by The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene. Bob was born in Waco, Texas on February 22, 1926, the son of Lena Clinton Poole Morris and L. W. Morris. He graduated from Waco High School and attended Baylor University for two years. He was a U S Navy veteran, having served during World War II in the Pacific Theater. He married Elizabeth Wolfe on September 2, 1950 in Waco, and moved from Waco to Abilene in 1953. Mr. Morris was plant manager for Morris Ready Mix Concrete Co. in Abilene for many years. Bob was a member of First Baptist Church in Abilene and Masonic Lodge #24, George N. Denton Chapter in Waco. Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Wolfe Morris on December 3, 2009; parents; brother, Stanley C. Morris, Sr.; and two sisters, Bernice Long and Dorothy Jost. Mr. Morris is survived by several nieces and nephews including Stanley C. Morris, Jr., Kay Lanier, and Sue McWilliams all of Abilene. The family of Bob Morris would like to extend their appreciation to the staff at Wisteria Place, Station #4. Memorials may be made to Hendrick Hospice Care, 1682 Hickory Street, Abilene, Texas 79601.
