Bob T. Mara

Bob T. Mara, 82, died Sunday, February 21, 2016 at his home in Abilene, Texas. The son of Pearl (McGuire) and John E. Mara, Bob was born on February 8, 1934 in Chico, Texas, and graduated from Chico High School in Chico, Texas. He worked for Halliburton Energy Services for 34 years and continued working as an oil and gas consultant for the following 20 years. He married Mary Ann (Elder) Mara on November 28, 1953 in Ranger, Texas. He was a member of Southwest Park Baptist Church in Abilene. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, a brother, Raymond Mara, and his sister, Donelda Brooks. Bob is survived by his daughter Twanna Cooksey and her husband Larry of Grand Junction, Colorado, and daughter Talena Mara of Garden Grove, California; two grandchildren, Amberlee Cordeiro and husband Guy of Greensburg, Pennsylvania and Arlenda Newsom and husband Brad of Camas, Washington; and four great-grandchildren, Kyle Lemley, Cade Cordeiro, Kinley Newsom and Kaitlyn Newsom. Funeral service will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home Chapel, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene. Burial will follow at 2:00 PM in the Evergreen Cemetery in Ranger, Texas. Visitation will be at The Hamil Family Funeral Home on Friday, February 26, 2016 from 6:00-8:00PM.
