Richard Blake Burton passed away on July 15, 2009 at the age of 39. A native of Abilene, Blake is survived by his parents, Dick and Shotti Burton of Abilene, two sisters, Becky Burton of Fort Worth and Patricia Fleming and her husband Stan of Chesapeake, Virginia as well as six cousins including Bruce and Brent Unrue, Mary Jean Baker, Carol Murphy, Jim and Steve Burton and their families.
Blake was a graduate of Cooper High School and received a Bachelor of Science Degree from McMurry University in 1994. While at McMurry he was a member of HEI Social Club. Blake was employed by the Abilene Prairie Dogs and United Supermarkets. He was a life long member of St. Paul United Methodist Church.
A memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 18 at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 525 Beech Street with the Reverend Bob Ford and Dr. Eduardo Rivera officiating. The family will receive visitors on Friday, July 17 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.
Blake was preceded in death by his grandparents C.B. & Xan Oates, Lamkin & Mabel Burton, his aunt Jean Oates Unrue, uncle James Burton and cousin Charlotte Unrue.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to St. Paul United Methodist Church, 525 Beech Street, Abilene, TX 79602 or the Presbyterian Medical Care Mission, 1857 Pine Street, Abilene, TX 79601.
