Billy Ray Walls Sr

Went to be with The Lord 31 August 2024.

Funeral services will be held 1:00pm Friday, 6 September 2024 at the Buffalo Gap Cemetery with David McQueen officiating. Services are under the direction of the Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road Abilene, Texas.

Billy was born in Owens Cross Roads, Alabama 26 January, 1942 to Joe and Stella Walls.

Billy worked as an independent truck driver, hauling produce from coast to coast from an early age until his retirement.

When he retired, he moved from his home in Tennessee and resided in the Buffalo Gap, Texas area spending his remaining years farming and ranching. He had always loved the outdoors and working with livestock.

Everyone enjoyed his company, sense of humor, wit and always making people laugh at the hundreds of over the road stories he shared.

He had a deep relationship with Jesus and was always quick to offer deep heartfelt prayers for friends and loved ones. Many times family would walk into his home and Billy would be deep in prayer with Jesus. Billy’s favorite scriptures were;

1 John 1:5

God is light; in Him there is no darkness at all.

Hebrews 13:5

I will never leave you nor forsake you.

Billy was preceded in death by his parents Joe and Stella Walls, wife Stella Louise Walls, brothers Bill Walls, Paul Walls, Harry Edward Walls, and Maurice Walls. Sisters Daisy Simmons, Mable Levi, Floy Hindman, Opal McGrady and Virginia Pinkerton.

 Billy is survived by his daughter Missy Huntley and husband Brian, son Billy Walls Jr., grandsons Hunter Wood, LR Huntley, ZS Huntley, brothers Troy Walls, Roy Walls and wife Judy, Wayne Walls and wife Sandra, sisters Stella Steakly and husband Jimmy, Luddie Walls and numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.

Memorials may be given to Hendricks Hospice Care Abilene, Texas.
