Bill Shaner, 69, of Eula, passed away on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 in Abilene.
Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. Saturday, November 10, 2018 at the Hwy 36 Church of Christ in Potosi. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. with Greg Melton, minister, officiating. Interment with Military Honors will follow in the Eula Cemetery under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.
Bill was born on January 8, 1949 in Abilene to the late Duane and Jenelle (Tarrant) Shaner. He was a graduate of Abilene High School. Bill and Katherine Scott were married on April 20, 1973 in Abilene. He was employed as an electronic technician at the Abilene State School for over 30 years. After retiring, he worked for Davis Kinard for approximately 5 years. He served in the US Army and was a Vietnam Veteran. Bill was a member of the Hwy 36 Church of Christ serving as a Deacon, and was a past member of the Eula Volunteer Fire Department. His passion in life was watching his granddaughters compete in sports and riding his motorcycle. He was a resident of Eula most of his life.
Bill was preceded in death by one brother, Gary Shaner.
Survivors include his wife Kathi of Eula; one daughter, Jennifer Shaner of Abilene; one son, David Shaner and wife Melissa of Tuscola, Texas; one brother, Jimmy Shaner and wife Sharon of Saginaw, Texas; three granddaughters, Morgan, Allie and Leah all of Tuscola; and two nephews, Jimmy and Michael Shaner.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials may be made to the Hwy 36 Church of Christ or charity of their choice.
