Billy W. "Bill" McDonald, 75, died on Friday, April 15, 2011, after a battle with cancer.
Born in Coleman County, Texas on June 20, 1935, Bill was the son of N.C. and Maxie (Williams) McDonald. He attended school at Loss Creek and Mozelle, and married Joyce Mills on November 17, 1956 in Santa Anna, Texas.
Bill owned a service station and worked in the oil field in Coleman before moving in 1966 to Midland, Texas, where he worked for The Permian Corporation. In 1967 he moved to Abilene, where he retired as a pipeline gauger from Ashland, Inc. (formerly The Permian Corporation) after 32 years in 1998.
Bill enjoyed spending time at the lake fishing, as well as spending time with his grandkids and children. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather, and a good Christian man. He was a member of View Baptist Church.
His parents; three brothers, Frank, Carl and Jacky; and two sisters, Ouida Philmon and Jean Davis, preceded Bill in death.
Bill is survived by his wife, Joyce McDonald of Abilene; five children, Glenda McMahan and husband Doug of Mansfield, Texas, Debbie Ford and husband Charles of Austin, Michael McDonald of Abilene, Terry McDonald and wife Glenda of Forsan, Texas; and Pamela Ulcak and husband Philip of Midland; and brother, Glen McDonald and wife Dorothy of Coleman. Survivors also include eight grandchildren and spouses, Christi Martin and Chad, Cassie Handlin and Jason, Shelby McDonald, Matthew Ulcak, Jansen McDonald, Kyle Ford, Austin Ulcak and Madison Ulcak, and four great grandchildren, Ashlyn Gary, Andrew Handlin, Blake Handlin and Alyssa Martin.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 18, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home Chapel, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, with Dale Morrison officiating. Interment will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Matthew Ulcak, Austin Ulcak, Jansen McDonald, Kyle Ford, Chad Martin and Jason Handlin.
