Billy Bush "Bill" Hothan, died Sunday, April 22, 2007 at a local hospital. Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm on Wednesday at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Burial will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Bill was born on July 25, 1921 in Ovalo, Texas to Carl P. Hothan and Ruby Ruth (Bush) Hothan. He was a graduate of Ovalo High School and attended Texas Technological College and McMurry College. He was a lifelong resident of Taylor County and has made Abilene his home since 1949. Bill served his country from 1942 to 1945 in the United States Army. During World War II, Bill fought in the Normandy Invasion and the Battle of the Bulge. He was a Signal Corps Operator. May 21, 1949, Bill married Easter Belle McMillon in Abilene, Texas. His favorite hobby was fishing. Bill was a member of Ovalo Baptist Church.
Preceding Bill in death were his parents, an infant son, Stacy Mack Hothan on November 7, 1957 and his sister, Ruth Karl Hothan in 1997. Bill is survived by his wife, Easter Belle McMillon Hothan of Abilene; one son, Don Bush Hothan and his wife Cindy of Abilene; two grandchildren, Amanda Hothan and Andy Hothan of Lubbock; one brother-in-law Fred B. Jennings of San Antonio; and one cousin, Janie Strother Wilson of Cleburne.
Bryan Jennings, James Robert McMillon, Larry McMillon, Ronald McMillon, Donald McMillon, John Rankin, Steve McMillon and Edward Wayne Adams will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Lloyd Walker, Jack Riley, Elmer Woolsey, Byron Bryant, Garland Holley, Ken Greaves, Dr. Joe Rankin, Chip Shumaker and Chuck Winterberger.
