Billy Wayne "Bill" Hollowell, 70, died Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at his residence Abilene.
Born in Hendricks, Oklahoma on September 27, 1939, Bill was the son of Beatrice (Chappell) and Woodrow Hollowell. He graduated from Pascal High School in Fort Worth and attended University of Texas at Arlington. He worked a long time in pharmaceutical sales and for Clayton Chemical for a number of years. He was also a sales representative in commercial electricity for TXU. Since 1977, Bill had been a resident of Abilene.
Bill was a proud son, husband, father and grandfather who loved serving his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. With a boisterous voice and big heart, Bill was always willing to lend a helping hand. He spent countless hours witnessing to others and sharing God's word. Bill enjoyed watching his favorite football and baseball teams and rehashing the highlights with friends and loved ones. His smile and laughter would fill a room, and he will be missed by all who knew and loved him. He is now with his Lord and Savior counting the days when we will all be in God's loving embrace.
Bill married Marge Henson on June 22, 2008 in Winters, Texas. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Winters.
He was preceded in death by his father and a grandson, Garrett Taylor.
Survivors include his wife, Marge Henson Hollowell of Abilene and Shep, Texas; son, Brian Hollowell and wife, Angela of Austin; daughter, Lori Behrens and husband, Greg, of Austin; mother, Bea Salyers of Abilene; and three grandchildren, Tiffany Taylor of Denton, and Amanda Hollowell and Jacob Hollowell of Austin. Bill is also survived by stepsons and spouses, Dan and Donna Henson of Whitehouse, Texas, Philip and Amy Henson of Advance, North Carolina, and John and Kimberley Henson of Abilene; stepdaughter, Susian Parsons; and step-grandchildren and great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 29, at First Baptist Church in Winters, Texas with Rev. Heath Powers and Rev. Berry Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in Shep Cemetery directed by The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene. The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
