Billy K. Fry, Sr. 81, of Abilene, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 in Abilene, Texas.
Billy was born on June 27, 1936, in Haskell, Texas, to Harvey Kellen and Annie Mae Fry. He attended Haskell High School and graduated in 1954. He joined the U. S. Navy in 1954 and served for six years. In 1961, he moved to Abilene where he owned F & W Shell Station and Star Pawn & Loan until his retirement in 1995.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Annie Mae Fry; and two sisters, Addie Mae Bouldin and Leona Porter.
Billy is survived by his son Billy K. Fry, Jr. and his wife, Joan; daughter, Rene Reynolds; and one grandson, Nick Reynolds and wife Mikayla, as well as his companion of fourteen years, Leslie Standlee.
Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, August 31, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene. The graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 1, at Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene, 7457 W. Lake Road. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 a.m. Friday at The Hamil Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jim Ritter officiating.
Serving as pallbearers will be Nick Reynolds, Rodney Owens, Riley Owens, Bob Blackburn, Kevin Giles, Travis Coker and Jerry Manske.
