Billy Gene Foster

Billy Gene Foster, 84, of Abilene, passed away Friday, January 17, 2014 at Abilene Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be at 10:30 am on Tuesday, January 21, 2014 in the chapel at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Rev. Jim Ritter will officiate. Entombment will follow at Elmwood Memorial Park. After services a reception will be held at the home of David and Linda Zett, 2518 South 40th St. in Abilene The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:00 pm on Monday, January 20, 2014 at the funeral home. Billy was born September 9, 1929 in Stith, Texas to Homer and Lucille (Floyd) Foster. He married Helen Emma Simonizh in November 1953. Billy served in the United States Army and worked as a supervisor at Southwestern Bell Telephone for 38 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Frances Hopkins, and two sisters-in-law, Mildred E. Callow and Elenora Anderson. Billy is survived by his wife of 60 years, Helen Foster, of Tuscola; one sister, Mary Lou Carmen of Austin; three nephews, Richard Hopkins, Jerry Hopkins and James Carmen; two nieces, Vicki LaFosse and Judy Carmen; one great-niece, Kristina E. Fowler and one great-great niece, Ainsley Paige Fowler.
