Billy Alva Cox, 91, of Abilene, Texas passed away on January 15, 2021 in Abilene.
Visitation will be held Monday January 18th from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 Noon at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. There will be a private family graveside follow the visitation.
Billy was born in Callahan County to Minnie & Elmer Cox. He married Dorothy Winn on May 18, 1949 at Wylie Baptist Church in Abilene. They were the first couple to be married in Wylie Baptist Church. Billy and Dorothy were active in the church until the Covid epidemic. He was in the U.S. Army proudly serving from 1947 to 1950.
Billy worked for 34 years at Merchants Fast Motor Lines in Abilene, Texas as a Printer and Supply Clerk.
Billy was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Sybil Van Zandt.
Billy is survived by his wife of 71 years Dorothy, a daughter and son-in-law Nita and Eddie Laney of Buffalo Gap, a son and daughter-in-law Doug Cox and Jennifer Cox of Bryan, five grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren and much-loved nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be given to Hendrick Hospice Hospital. The family wishes to sincerely thank Dr. Vincent VanAcht and all the nurses and staff at the HMC and Hendrick Hospice.
