Bill Brabbin, 88, died Tuesday, January 24, 2017 in Abilene, Texas.
Visitation will be 6 to 7 p.m. Friday, January 27, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 28, in the chapel of Southern Hills Church of Christ with Danny Minton officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Born in Merkel, Texas on November 8, 1928, Bill was the son of Thelma (Fuqua) and Milford Anson Brabbin. He served in the military from 1946 to 1949, serving in Guam and Tokyo, Japan. The owner of Brabbin Construction Company, Bill was a homebuilder for over 50 years in Abilene and Brownwood, Texas. He moved from Abilene to Brownwood in 1965, and returned to Abilene in 1985.
He was a member of Southern Hills Church of Christ in Abilene. He had been very active in numerous civic organizations throughout the years. Bill was a past president of the Abilene Homebuilders Association and an honorary president of the National Homebuilders Association.
Bill married Jean George. She preceded him in death on August 5, 2013. His parents and one brother, Donald Brabbin, also preceded him in death.
Survivors include his son, Bob Brabbin and wife Billie of Cleburne, Texas; two brothers, Fred Brabbin and wife Shirley of Garland, Texas, and Jerry Brabbin of Burleson, Texas; a sister-in-law Carol Brabbin; three grandchildren, Beau Brabbin, Baron Brabbin and Lea McGee; and three great-grandchildren, Brailynn Brabbin, Christian Brabbin and Bailey Brabbin; and several nieces and nephews.
