Billie Joe Walker, 88, of Wingate, passed away Saturday, September 23, 2017 at his residence.  Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Monday, September 25, 2017 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.  Lauren Garduno will officiate. A Masonic Graveside will follow in the Shep Cemetery.

Billie Joe was born February 18, 1929 in Taylor County, Texas to Elbert Leon and Gladys E. (Jackson) Walker.  He served in the United States Navy and was a farmer and a rancher.  Billie Joe married Jimmye R. Traylor on April 23, 1953 in Abilene, Texas.   He was a member of the Wingate Masonic Lodge #1042, the Wingate Lions Club and the Suez Shriners.

Billie Joe was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and two sisters. 

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Jimmye Walker of Wingate; one son, Larry Don Walker and wife Fran of Winters; one daughter, Pattie Haynie of Alvarado; one sister, Rita Albro of Plainview; one brother, Quincy Traylor and wife Gail of Winters; one sister-in-law, Ann Walker of Drasco; five grandchildren, Colby Walker and wife Rhonda, Laci Walker, Shelby Walker, April Matthews and Chris Haynie and six great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made in honor of Billie Joe Walker to the Wingate Masonic Lodge, P.O. Box 211, Wingate, Texas 79566.
