Billie Iris Todd age 88, of Abilene, Texas, passed away peacefully on April 4, in Abilene, following a three-month illness.
Iris was a walking ray of sunshine and an encourager to everyone she knew. She loved on others in a profound way and she had a deep and abiding love for God, her friends, family, and community. She will be dearly missed and celebrated!
Iris was born in Abilene, TX, to Forrest and Thelma Kendall on Sept 29, 1932. She grew up in Abilene, graduated from Abilene High School in 1950, and graduated from McMurry University in 1954 with a degree in Education. She attended the Fontainebleau School of Music and Fine Arts in Fontainebleau, France in 1955.
Iris married Bob Todd in Abilene in 1956 and she taught elementary school for three years. They moved to Midland and Iris continued to teach 1st grade for four more years before becoming a full-time homemaker. Iris and Bob lived in Midland for over 40 years and Iris was involved in many different community boards and activities. She taught a girls Sunday School class for many years at First Baptist Church in Midland. Iris and Bob also lived in Sun City, Arizona and McKinney, TX before moving back to Abilene in 2005.
Preceding her in death are her mother and father, her son Robin Todd and her husband Bob Todd. Iris is survived by her son Toby Todd and wife Bridget, her brother Don Kendall and wife Julia, her daughter-in-law Kelly Todd Doughty, her three grandchildren – Westin Todd, Katelyn Todd, and Bo Todd, nieces Lynn Powell and Vicki Harrison and their families, nephew Dan Kendall and his family, and her cousin Kay Turney and husband Bill Turney.
