Billie Ann Smith Lofton, 71, of Abilene, passed away on Sunday, November 6, 2016. Visitation will be Wednesday, November 9th from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, November 10th at The Hamil Family Funeral Home with Rev. Darrin C. Ray of Wylie Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Elmwood Memorial Park Cemetery.
Billie was born February 10, 1945 to Hester Lee Sutton & Martin Bernard Smith in Abilene. She graduated from Cooper High School. She married Stephen Lofton on May 14, 1970. Billie was the fourth great granddaughter of John Kelly, who brought his family on a wagon train led by Stephen F. Austin to an uninhabited region of Mexico in 1824 known as Tejas. These emigrants settled in what is known as Austin's Colony and are referred to in Texas history as "The Old 300"
Billie is preceded in death by her parents, one son; William Lonnie Lofton on April 2, 2014 and one step-son Stephen C. Lofton, Jr. in 1994.
She is survived by her loving husband Stephen Lofton, daughter-in-law; Amy Lofton, stepson Scott Lofton & wife Kim, seven grandchildren, Debra Lofton, Lane Lofton, Luke Lofton, and Lily Lofton of Abilene, Aaron Lofton of Austin, Christi Lofton of Odessa and Michael Lofton of VA.
Memorial may be made to the Wylie Baptist Church, 6097 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene, TX 79606
