Bill G. McLaren, age 89, of Abilene, passed away on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 in Abilene.
Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, September 10, 2018 at Elmwood Memorial Park with Pug Parris of the Aldersgate United Methodist Church, officiating. Services are under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.
Bill was born on December 29, 1928 in Anson, Texas to the late Harold and Mabel (Rowell) McLaren. He and Louise Jennings were married on November 11, 1960 in Fort Worth, Texas. She preceded him in death on January 22, 2018. Bill served in the U.S. Army in the Korean Conflict from 1951 to 1952. He was employed with the United States Postal Service as a window clerk, retiring after 28 years of service. He was a member of the Aldersgate United Methodist Church. Bill moved to Abilene from Anson in 1959.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Nancy Reavis.
Bill is survived by two nieces, Stephanie Bowen of Amarillo, Texas and Charlotte Wilson of San Antonio, Texas; a cousin, Dorothy Ellen Watkins of Anson; five great nephews, one great-great nephew and one on the way.
