Beverly Jo Champion

Beverly Jo Champion, 64, of Abilene (Elm Valley Community) passed away Monday, July 24, 2006. Funeral services will be at 3:00 pm on Wednesday at Southern Hills Church of Christ, with Pete Knight and Peter McInnis officiating. Burial will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery, Highway 277 South. Arrangements are under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Jo was born on November 9, 1941 in Pueblo, Colorado to O.B. and Irene (Cantrell) Barrett. She attended school in Abilene and married Claud Champion on October 16, 1959 at the University Church of Christ Chapel in Abilene. Jo was co-owner with her husband, Claud, of Barrett Collision Center. She lived in Abilene most of her life and attended the Buffalo Gap Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Ken Barrett. She is survived by her husband, Claud Champion; one son, Rocky Champion and his wife Brenda; one daughter, Hayley Underwood and her husband Roy, all of Abilene; one sister Elaine Black and her husband, Mike of Alice, Texas; one uncle Jimmie Cantrell and his wife Mary Lynn; five grandchildren, Amy Murphy, Tyler and Ryan Champion, and Tanner and Toby Underwood. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Memorials may be made in honor of Jo to the Ben Richey Boys Ranch, 501 Ben Richey Drive, Abilene, Texas 79602.
