Betty Jo Siewert, 83, rejoined missing family and friends in the presence of her Savior Jesus on Saturday, September 19, 2009. A service celebrating her life will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, September 21, 2009 at Zion Lutheran Church, 2801 Antilley Road, with Pastor Bob Boyce officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park. Services are under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.
Jo was born January 5, 1926 in Anson, Texas, the daughter of Charlie and Lela Peterson. She married Alvin A. Siewert on March 6, 1946 in Abilene. Jo was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. She worked at Abilene City Hall for several years and for her brother, Royce Peterson at Peterson Real Estate. She was a homemaker for most of her life and enjoyed raising two generations of children and was always available for their friends as well. She was active as a Girl Scout leader and homeroom mom. She and Alvin enjoyed many years of square dancing at the Wagon Wheel.
She was preceded in death by one infant son, Bruce Siewert; both of her parents, Charlie and Lela Peterson; three brothers, Stanley, CR and Earl Peterson; and three sisters, Clara Lee Patton, Mavis Patton and Francis Johnson.
She is survived by her husband, Alvin Siewert, of Abilene; their daughter, Patricia Bruneau, of Abilene; her grandchildren, Clifford Cartwright and his wife Maize Cartwright, of Abilene, and Ali Bailey and her husband, Alex Bailey, of Greeley, Colorado. She is also survived by two brothers, Royce Peterson and his wife JoAnn Peterson, of Abilene, and Charles Peterson and his wife Inez Peterson, of Tuscola and numerous nieces and nephews.
