Betty Joyce Proctor, 92, passed away on Wednesday, May 19, 2021. She was born Betty Joyce Bond on May 5, 1929 in Mosheim, TX to Charles and Josephine Bond.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 20 from 5 pm until 7 pm at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Graveside services will be held at 3 pm on Friday, May 21, at Buffalo Gap Cemetery with Chris McCurley officiating.
She married Billy Ray Proctor on December 27, 1951 and they spent nearly 59 years together until his passing in November of 2010. Together they had two sons, David and Mark.
Betty graduated from Draughon’s Business College in Abilene, and worked as a brilliant businesswoman, having owned two different businesses in her life. She won the state shorthand competition. She enjoyed painting and even taught the art to others. Betty volunteered at Hendrick Medical Center, and she loved her cats dearly. She was a longtime member of Oldham Lane Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Josephine Bond, and husband Billy Ray Proctor.
Betty is survived by her two sons and their wives, David Proctor and Patricia of Chattanooga, TN, and Mark Proctor and Melanie of Tampa, FL. She also leaves behind five grandchildren: Jennifer Curran and husband Brian, Elizabeth Spurlock and husband Ryan, Christopher Proctor and wife Ali, Noah Proctor, and Luke Proctor, as well as seven great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to West Texas Rehabilitation Center or Meals on Wheels.
