Betty Pounds, 69, died Tuesday, April 18, 2017 in Abilene, Texas.
Born in Abilene, Texas, on April 14, 1948, Betty was the daughter of Willene (Selby) and Henry Clay Pounds. Betty was a 1966 graduate of Abilene High School and graduated in 1967 from the Hendrick Medical Center School of Nursing. She was a LVN and retired from the Abilene State Supported Living Center after a career of more than 30 years.
Betty had numerous health issues of her own during her life. She fought a good fight, always with a positive attitude.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Mary Gilbreath; brother, Willis Henry Pounds; and nephew, Jeff Gilbreath.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Samantha Foreman, and grandson, Aidan Foreman, of Abilene; brother, Tommy Pounds of Hawley; sister Nancy Hooper of Abilene; three nieces, Amanda Hooper, Angela Bailey and Christina Tackett and her son Keith Tackett; and one nephew, Jonathan Pounds.
Visitation will be 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, April 23rd, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 24th, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park.
