Betty Ruth Ellis Lindley
Betty Ruth Ellis Lindley of Abilene, Texas passed away on August 3, 2013 in Abilene. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 21, 2013 at First United Methodist Church in Abilene. Burial will be at historic Memorial Park Cemetery in Austin, Texas at a later date.
Betty was born in Stephenville, Texas to Emma Ruth Williams Ellis and Oren Henry Ellis on December 11, 1927 and attended Tarleton College in her home town. She married Reginald Gregory and moved to Austin, where she lived many years and raised her children. Later she moved to Abilene and married Joe Mack Lindley, also a Stephenville native.
Betty lived a full life with close friends and beloved cousins, was very active in Methodist Church organizations, and was a licensed pilot and Medical Assistant.
Betty is survived by her husband, Joe Mack Lindley of Abilene, children Wilson Gregory of Houston and Anne Gregory of Austin, brother Oren Ellis Jr. of Santa Fe, New Mexico, grandchildren Claire Noakes of Arlington, Virginia, Yulia Lyuboslavsky of Austin, and Max Polansky of Austin, and great-grandchildren Keane and Henry Noakes of Arlington, Virginia.
