Betty Fink, 82, of Abilene, passed away November 3, 2013 in Abilene.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 6, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Woodard officiating. Burial will follow in Elliott-Hamil Garden of Memories Cemetery in the Garden of Faith.
Betty was born in Coweta, Okla., to farmers Ira B. Fletcher and Tina (Brock) Fletcher and was the last of seven children, and help work the farm, including picking cotton. The family moved to Lenna, Okla., and Betty attended school and played basketball at Eufaula. After high school, she moved to San Antonio, Texas, where she met and married Raymond L. Fink, Jr., an airman from Kent, Ohio. They traveled the world before retiring in Abilene in 1978. Betty earned a local name for herself at the West Texas Fair in the culinary arts. She also was a long-time member of Southwest Park Baptist Church and the Willing Workers Sunday School Class.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Raymond, of Abilene; her parents, Ira and Tina Mae Fletcher; brothers, sisters and their spouses, Ira B. and Mary Fletcher of Marana, Ariz., Opal and Clyde Brand of Eufaula, Okla., Clarence and Zelma Fletcher of Norman, Okla., Melvin Fletcher of San Antonio, Donnie “Pat” Fletcher of Colorado Springs, Colo., Norma Jean White of Eufaula; and several nieces and nephews.
Betty is survived by her children and their spouses John and Diana Sue (Susie) Farquhar and Cindy Vandiver of Abilene, Richard and Karen Denney of Midland and Raymond P. and Pam Fink of Shawnee, Okla.; grandchildren Lori and W.L. Jaggars of Abilene, Patrick and Alisha Vandiver of Moore, Okla., Jeremy and Tamara Wood of Abilene, Leia and Matt Brooker of Lubbock, Kelly Fink of Oklahoma City, Collin Fink of Shawnee and Krysten Denney of Shawnee; great grandchildren Shaun Gallimore, Kellen and Lillian Brooker and Alex and Hunter Wood; and numerous nieces and nephews.
