Betty Jean Cockrell died on Saturday, July 7, 2007 at Hendrick Healthcare Center after an extended illness. A family Graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 10 at the Colorado City Cemetery under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home.
Betty Jean was born on December 16, 1928 in Megargel, Texas to Herschel and Mary Emma Cockrell. She was a graduate of Colorado City High School, Hardin Simmons School of Nursing, and Harris Hospital's School of Anesthesia in Fort Worth. She worked most of her nursing career as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) at All Saints' Hospital and John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas.
Betty Jean is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her sisters, Virginia Cockrell and Dawn Shipley of Abilene, and several nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank the staff on the sixth floor, extended care wing, at Hendrick Healthcare Center for their care and attention to Betty Jean.
