Betty Carl Brady, 71, of Abilene, died Monday, June 3, 2013 at Hendrick Medical Center.
The daughter of Mary Katherine (Watts) and Carl Thomas Brady, Betty was born on February 22, 1942. A lifelong resident of Abilene, she was a 1960 graduate of Abilene High School and attended Hardin-Simmons University.
During her working career, she worked for Timex, Banyon, Eastman-Whipstock, and since 2005, Betty worked at Barnards Refinishing. She was a faithful and active member of Hamby Baptist Church.
Betty was a giving, talented, and fun woman who loved life and the blessings it bestowed upon her. Betty was a uniquely gifted artisan; family, friends, and co-workers alike witnessed Betty design and create beautiful pieces of art, furniture, and other treasures over the years. Betty lived each day to the fullest, and she left a positive impression on everyone that she came into contact with. Friends and relatives will miss her greatly and will treasure her lasting legacy of friendship, kinship and caring for others.
She is survived by members of the Hamby Community, dear friends, many cousins and other relatives.
Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 5, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Rd. in Abilene. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 6, in The Hamil Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jim Ritter officiating. Burial will follow in Hamby Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers are Carye Adkins, Thomas Caton, David Chapman, Jim Craft, David Mac Gist, Gary Range, and Bill Traweek.
