Bettie Glover, of Abilene, died Wednesday, February 28, 2007 at the age of 77. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday at the Episcopal Church of the Heavenly Rest, with the Rev. Scott Mayer and the Rev. Mary Glover officiating. Inurnment will follow at the Columbarium at the church. A reception will follow the inurnment in the parish hall of the church. Arrangements are under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.
September 20, 1929, Bettie was born the daughter of Albert Goodman and Sarah (Williams) Goodman in Bryan, Texas. She graduated from Hardin-Simmons University in 1951 with a Bachelor's Degree in Music. She began teaching piano lessons in 1951 teaching hundreds of students between then and her retirement. In the 1950's, Bettie was the organist for the First Baptist Church and University Baptist Church. Bettie played the organ for ten years at the Fairmont Methodist Church. She was also organist for the following churches: First Methodist Church, Saint Mark's Episcopal Church and First Central Presbyterian Church. She taught music at St. John's Episcopal School in the early 1970's. Bettie was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Heavenly Rest where she was the church organist from 1975 to 1997.
She was preceded in death by her parents. Bettie is survived by two sons, Michael Glover and his wife Debra Fryer of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Patrick Glover and his wife Teresa of Abilene; two daughters, Nancy Glover Rangel and the Rev. Mary E. Glover, and a son-in-law, Vince Rangel, all of Abilene; six grandchildren, Sarah and Tom Rangel, Sam and Travis Ward, and Jessica and J.J. Badaczewski.
