Benny R. Polston, 62, of Lawn, Texas, went to Heaven surrounded by the love of family and friends on Wednesday, July 7, 2010, after a courageous fight with cancer.
The son of Charlene (Burke) and Oren Polston, Benny was born on April 28, 1948, in Fort Worth, Texas. Most of his life, he was a resident of Abilene. He graduated from Cooper High School, and after graduation from University of Texas, Arlington, Benny was the Vice President of Finance for Tom Brom, Inc. in Midland Texas. In 1982, he established a successful C.P.A. firm, Benny R. Polston C.P.A., in Winters, Texas.
In his head, Benny was a "numbers guy", but in his heart he was a cattleman. He continued the pure bred Simmental herd from his father, Oren Polston
Benny was so many things to so many people - faithful husband, loving father, funny Umpah, brother, friend, client advisor, Sunday School teacher. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Winters. He will be much missed by so many.
His parents, Oren and Charlene Polston, preceded Benny in death.
Benny is survived by his wife, Becky Polston of Lawn; two daughter, Michelle Marcenaro and husband, Greg Gayle, of Houston, and Paige Camacho and husband, Tommy, of Abilene; two sons, Banyan Winkler and wife Vanessa, and Bryce Winkler and wife, Giana, all of Snyder; and six grandchildren, Paisley and Peyton Polston, Victoria and Laramie Winkler, and Briann and Brily Winkler. Survivors also include a brother, Bill Polston and wife, Carmella, of Winters, and two sisters, Linda Speegle and husband, Danny, and Brenda Polston, all of Abilene.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, July 10, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home Chapel, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene, with Rev. Fred Johnston officiating.
