Ben Moses
Ben Moses passed from this life on Monday, February 2, 2009. He was 81. Funeral services with Rev. Kevin Kennedy and Dr. Randy Cotton officiating will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, February 5, 2009 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Burial will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Ben was born in Morganton, North Carolina on May 19, 1927 to Ben Lee Moses, Sr. and Annie (Clark) Moses. Ben married Christine Riggs in Austin, Texas on December 20, 1952. The couple lived in Maine, Oklahoma and England before moving to Abilene in 1959. A 20 year veteran of the United States Air Force, Ben served as an Aviation Mechanic and was a member of the Atlas Missile program. After his retirement from the Air Force, he worked in Abilene for 29 years for Clayton Chemical Company. Ben was an active member of Trinity Baptist Church for 50 years serving in various capacities from driving a church bus to serving as a Deacon and member of the Missions committee.
Ben was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and one brother. He is survived by his wife, Chris Moses of Abilene; one son, Steve Moses and his wife Paula of Big Spring, Texas; one daughter, Janet Moses of Atlanta, Georgia; two grandsons, Benjamin Moses and wife Anne of Dallas, Texas, and Ryan Moses and wife Lilly of Springfield, Missouri; and one sister, Eva Mooney of Pulaski, Virginia.
