Belva Beckett

Belva Beckett, of Abilene, passed away Friday, February 26, 2016 at the age of 78. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 pm on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at Southwest Park Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Woodard and Dr. Paul Siebenmann officiating. Services are under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Belva was born on March 7, 1937 in Olney, Texas to John Noel and Ruth (Miller) Scott. She graduated from Howard Payne University and married Jack Melvin Beckett in 1960 in Baird, Texas. In 2009, Belva and Jack moved from Kansas City to Abilene. They are members of Southwest Park Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents. Belva is survived by her husband, Jack Beckett of Abilene; one son, Jay Beckett and wife Brook also of Abilene; one daughter, Deanna Geldens and husband Paul of Aurora, Colorado; two brothers, John Scott and wife Gwen of Austin, and Tencil Wayne Scott and wife Brenda of Arizona; and three grandchildren, Alex, John and Andrew Beckett. Memorials may be made in honor of Belva to Southwest Park Baptist Church “Mission Fund”, 2901 South 20th, Abilene, Texas 79605.
