Barry Engle

Barry Engle, 65, died Wednesday, July 11, 2012, at an Abilene medical center. Born in Berkeley, California on April 22, 1947, he was the son of Effie Lucile (Ashworth) and Ira Donald Engle. Barry was a U S Army veteran of Vietnam. He worked for the Department of Navy as a pipefitter. In 2007, he moved from Florida to Abilene, where he was a member of Zion Lutheran Church Barry married Sheila Anne Gray on December 14, 1984 in Vallejo, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters. Survivors include his wife Sheila Engle of Abilene; children Charlotte Bosson, Paula Hester and Cheri Dickson all of Vacaville, CA, Teresa Owens of Rocklin, CA, and Denis Owens of Vallejo, CA; three brothers Donald Lee Engle and Daniel Engle of Brownwood and Gary Engle of Oklahoma; a sister, Sharron Terrill of Herlong, CA; and eleven grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, July 13, at Zion Lutheran Church with Pastor Clyde Kieschnick officiating, directed by The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene. Interment of his cremains will follow in Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene. Memorial contributions may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, 2801 Antilley Rd., Abilene TX 79606.
