Barbara, 81, of Abilene, entered Heaven's gates on Tuesday, June 13th at Hendrick Hospice Care.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 o'clock p.m. on Friday, June 16th with Dr. Robert Ellis officiating at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene.

Barbara Jean Rowe was born on May 21, 1936 in Hampton, Virginia to Alfred and Mildred Rowe. She graduated from Hampton High School in 1954 and Hendrick Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1976. She worked for Dr. Jake Barron for several years and later worked at Wisteria and as a home health care nurse.

She married Thomas Milton Morgan on September 4, 1954 in Hampton, Virginia and then moved to Abilene, Texas. Thomas was her treasured partner in all of life's adventures for 62 years. Barbara was a member of University Baptist Church and sang in the sanctuary choir. Later, she was a member of Southwest Park Baptist Church in Abilene.

Barbara was a voracious reader and had a passion for music, playing the piano, and singing. She enjoyed vacationing in the mountains and at the beach where she loved spending time with her family. She had a contagious zest for life, love, and joy that was evident to everyone around her. Later in life she developed a passion for horses. She loved and cared for countless horses and was thrilled to ride them for over thirty years. She was an avid supporter of her family's paint horse activities as they traveled to different cities to compete.

Barbara was preceded in death by her mother, Mildred Rowe; father, Alfred Rowe; sister, Jacqueline Gonzalez; brother-in-law, Homero Gonzalez; father-in-law, Tommy Lee Morgan; mother-in-law, Nellie LuDell Morgan; and brother-in-law, Bobby Russell.

Barbara is survived by her husband, Thomas Milton Morgan; one daughter, Traci Brandon and her loving partner Charles Pollard; one son, Todd Morgan and his wife, Jennifer, of Austin; two grandsons, Hill and Drew Morgan; sister-in-law, Marilyn Russell, and countless nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be given to Hendrick Hospice Care. The Morgan family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Templeton, Wisteria Place, and the many nurses, staff and volunteers who cared for Barbara so compassionately at Hendrick Hospice Care.
