B.D. “Buck” Sheppard, 75, of Abilene, passed away Thursday, February 14, 2013 at his home. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, February 18, 2013 at Elmwood Memorial Park. Rev. Mike Woodard will officiate. Visitation will be from 5:30 to 7:00 pm on Sunday at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.
Buck was born December 31, 1937 in Richland Springs, Texas to Beason D. Sheppard and Eddie Cleo (Munsell) Sheppard. He grew up in Crane, Texas and graduated from Crane High School. Buck married Carolyn Bostwick on September 12, 1957 at the First Baptist Church in Crane. He owned and operated Damron Welding Service and later worked for Trey Trucks and R & H Well Service.
In 1999, Buck and Carolyn moved to Abilene from Crane. He was a loving husband to Carolyn for 55 years. His only grandchild, Britni, affectionately referred to her granddad as “Pawdy”.
He was a member of Southwest Park Baptist Church in Abilene.
Buck was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Larry Sheppard and one niece, Mitzi Sheppard. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Carolyn Sheppard; his son, John Mark Sheppard; his daughter, Jana Backfisch and husband Dennis; his granddaughter, Britni Stafford, all of Abilene; one brother, Charles Sheppard and wife Mary of Crane; his sister-in-law, Phyllis Sheppard of Copperas Cove; as well as many nieces and nephews.
