Aubrey Darrell Richardson, 79, of Abilene, died on Tuesday, April 20, 2010 in an Abilene medical center.
Born in Santa Anna, Texas on August 9, 1930, Darrell was the son of Minnie (Williams) and George W. Richardson. After graduation from high school, he received an associate's degree. From November 1950 to August 1954, he served in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict on the USS Orleck DD886. Darrell was a salesperson, and he retired in 1982 from Montgomery Ward's after working there for 12 years.
Darrell married Rena Elizabeth Bozarth on June 29, 1953 in Abilene. He took great pride in his family, his almost 57 years of marriage to Rena, and serving his country in the US Navy. He was a member of Wylie Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Rena Richardson of Abilene; son, Darrell W. Richardson and wife Jennifer of Clyde; and daughters, Kathey Freeman and husband Douglas, and Karen Freeman and husband Gary, all of San Antonio. Darrell is also survived by five grandchildren, Michelle Woodall, Lisa Davis and husband Lance, Adam Freeman and wife Kristen, Joshua Freeman, and Elizabeth Freeman; and two great-grandchildren, Seth Walker Freeman and Aubrey Anne Davis.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene. Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Saturday, April 24, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home Chapel. Weldon Gann will preside. Burial will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park.
