Aubrey "Shann" Gibson, 70 years young, passed away on Sunday, April 9th, 2017.
Visitation will be 2:00-4:00 p.m. Sunday, April 16th at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene.
Funeral services will be held 11:30 a.m. Monday, April 17th at The Hamil Family Funeral Home with Pastor Stan Allcorn of Pioneer Drive Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene.
Shann was born in Antlers, Oklahoma to Vernie Lee Hogue and Theodore Hogue on January 22, 1947. He spent his childhood in Altus, Oklahoma which he had deemed "Fruit Jar Flats." He graduated from Altus High School. He then served in the U.S. Army during which time he was stationed in Korea. Upon his return, he married Carol Ann Yandell on September 25, 1971 in Clyde, Texas as well as graduated from Cameron University of Lawton, Oklahoma. He worked as an auditor for the State of Texas for more than 30 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his father-in-law Alton Yandell, sister-in-law Linda Gibson, brother David Gibson Sr. and sister-in-law Clarice Yandell.
Shann is survived by his wife Carol Gibson, son Brian Gibson, daughter Shelley Bailey and son-in-law Christopher Bailey of Katy, Texas; brother Jerry Gibson and his wife Brenda of Altus, Oklahoma; sister Donna Price and husband Wes of Altus, Oklahoma; mother-in-law Dorothy Yandell of Clyde, Texas; sister-in-law Janice Corbett and husband Terry of Evant, Texas; brother-in-law A.C. Yandell and wife Carolyn of Denton Valley, Texas; five grandchildren Trent Gibson, Brittney Gibson (his only girl), Owen Bailey, Eli Bailey and Isaac Bailey; niece and nephews with special spouses Terry Dean Oxford, Dave Gibson, Daniel Gibson, Derek Gibson, Teddi Haughey, Jerry Don Gibson II, Terry Corbett Jr. and James Corbett; and so many special great nieces and nephews; best friend Bob Collier and wife Linda; last but not least a very special cousin Billy Vaughn and his wife Wanda and their family.
Pallbearers will be "Little" David Gibson, Daniel Gibson, Derek Gibson, Jerry Don Gibson II, Terry Corbett Jr., James Corbett, Christopher Bailey and Trent Gibson.
Honorary pallbearers will be his brother Jerry Gibson, brother-in-law AC Yandell and brother-in-law Terry Corbett.
