Arthur Coy Raney of Shep, (Wingate) Texas, passed away on January 8, 2018 in Anson, Texas.
Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, January 14th, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, January 15, 2018 at First Baptist Church in Blackwell, Texas with Pastor Jeff White officiating. Burial will follow at the Blackwell Cemetery. Services are under the direction of the Hamil Family Funeral Home 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.
Coy was born in Blackwell, Texas to Robert Greenberry Raney and Mary Orlena Wimberley Raney on December 31,1924. He graduated from Blackwell High School. He married Johnnie Mae Christian on August 4, 1946 in Shep. He worked for El Paso Natural Gas Company for 37 years and after retirement farmed and ranched on land that was settled by family over 100 years ago. He was a veteran of WWII and served in the Army. He served as a deacon at First Baptist Church in Blackwell. He was involved in the Model A Club and enjoyed his many antique cars.
Coy Raney was preceded in death by his parents, sister Vera Tipps, brother Ralph Raney, his twin brother Roy Raney, and infant son AC Raney.
Coy Raney is survived by his wife of 71 years, Johnnie; daughters Connie Pritchett and husband Daniel of Abilene, Paula McDuff and husband Marvin of Anson; sister Hulene Magness and husband Jessie of San Angelo; 6 grandchildren Crystal Cato and husband Scott of Plano, Coylene Isley and husband Dale of Spokane, WA, Jake Murray and wife Leanne and Allison Blair and husband Jacob of Shep, Corey Pritchett and his wife Bettina of Germany and Randall Pritchett of Dallas, and 3 step grandchildren Leindy Estes, Marsha Crow and Daniel McDuff; and 10 great grandchildren. He was loved and respected by his many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be his nephews Ray Raney, Rodger Raney, Jeff Raney, Roy Raney, Glenn Raney and Rickey Conradt.
Memorial may be given to the First Baptist Church Blackwell, Texas, or Hendrick Hospice Care.
