Arthur T. Beauchamp, 83, of Abilene, Texas and formerly of Snyder, died Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at an Abilene medical center.
Born in Jones County, Texas, on July 23, 1926, Arthur was the son of Lura (Treadwell) and Pat Beauchamp. He graduated from Anson High School and Draughon's Business College. In 1952, Arthur helped organize and was the original director of the Jones County Farm Bureau.
After moving in 1957 to Scurry County, Texas, Arthur was a farmer and rancher in Scurry County for 33 years prior to moving to Abilene in 1990. While living in Scurry County, he served on the Scurry County Farm Bureau and China Grove Co-op Gin.
Arthur married Billie G. Chambers on December 4, 2003 in Anson, Texas.
He was a member of Pioneer Drive Baptist Church in Abilene, where he was a member of the Primetimers.
Arthur was preceded in death by his parents, Pat and Lura Treadwell Beauchamp; four brothers, John, Webster, Pat and Bobby Beauchamp; and a sister, Azalee Richards.
Survivors include his wife, Billie G. Beauchamp of Abilene; son, Tim R. Beauchamp and wife, Joanne, of Amarillo; two daughters, Brenda "Bee" Beauchamp and Brentz Beauchamp both of Snyder; two stepdaughters, Priscilla Giles and husband, Murray, of Dublin, Ohio, and Rebecca Larrinaga and husband, Michael Coffey, of Austin; and a sister, Ouida Lindsey of Bedford, Texas. Arthur is also survived by seven grandchildren, Jay Brown, Kathy Brown, Sarah Beauchamp, Jonathan Beauchamp, Chloe Beauchamp, Grace Beauchamp, and Patrick Beauchamp; one great-grandchild, Robyn Brown; two step-grandchildren, Amy Katherine Alley and husband, James, and Jason Giles; and one step-great-grandchild, Connor James Alley.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, July 12, at Pioneer Drive Baptist Church, 701 S. Pioneer Drive in Abilene, officiated by Dr. Jeff Reid and Rev. Jack Ridlehoover. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, south of Tuxedo in Jones County, Texas, directed by The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene. Viewing will be Saturday, July 10, from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Sunday, July 11, from 12 Noon until 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home. No family visitation is scheduled.
