Anne Lathrop, 80, died Monday, April 13, 2009, at an Abilene medical center.
The daughter of Ida (Hecht) and J. N. Rumph, she was born on June 9, 1928 in Culloden, Georgia, and in 1944 graduated from high school in Fairhope, Alabama
A resident of Abilene since 1968, Anne was a Civil Service employee at Dyess AFB Hospital, and formerly worked at Abilene National Bank (Bank One) and Hendrick Medical Center as a nursing clerk. She was a Methodist.
Anne loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Because family heritage was important to her, countless hours were spent exploring the geneology of her family. Anne also enjoyed reading, travel, painting, and acquiring collectables.
Her parents and one brother, J. N. Rumph, Jr., preceded her in death.
Survivors include sons, Robert Lathrop and wife, Brenda, of Odessa, Larry Lathrop and wife, Haley, of Vancouver, Washington, and Chris Lathrop of Abilene; daughter, Wendy Spraberry and husband, Larry, of Anson; and sister, Bobbie Frank of Georgetown, Texas. She is also survived by ten grandchildren, Eric Lathrop, Kassie Lathrop, Cody Spraberry, Justin Spraberry, Chris Lathrop, Brandon Lathrop, Haley Sue Lathrop, Jacob Lathrop, Alex Graves and Alisha Graves; eight great-grandchildren; three nieces and one nephew.
Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the chapel of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene, officiated by Rev. Derrell Patterson. Interment will be in Elmwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
